Introduction

                James Marshall found gold at Sutter's Mill, John Sutter was told, and Sutter's Fort was abandoned. But before all this happened, Sutter's Fort was a masterpiece, it was 3 stories high with walls 2 1/2 feet thick. John Sutter founded and started the construction of Sutter's Fort in 1841, and in 1843 the fort was completed. Sutter's Fort was built in Sacramento, California, and like all forts, Sutter's Fort was built to protect something, this time it was built to protect it's self. Sutters fort was an agricultral and trade colony, and a fort, it literally protected its self.
